Depression Counselling

What is Depression?

Depression is more than feeling sad. It’s a prolonged change in mood and energy that affects thoughts, behaviours, sleep, appetite, motivation, and ability to enjoy life. People with depression often describe feeling numb, empty, overwhelmed, hopeless, or exhausted — even when everything around them looks “fine.” Depression may be triggered by life events, loss, stress, biological factors, or build slowly over time.

“You are not a burden for needing care — you are brave for asking for it.”

Who I Work With

I provide compassionate, evidence-based counselling for:

  • Adults and older adolescents experiencing low mood, persistent sadness, or loss of interest in activities.

  • People with major depressive episodes, persistent depressive disorder (dysthymia), or situational depression following life changes or loss.

  • Those with co-occurring concerns such as anxiety, grief, trauma, chronic health conditions, or relationship difficulties.

  • Caregivers and family members looking for support and guidance in how to help someone they love.

What You Can Expect

  • Assessment & Collaborative Goals

We start by understanding your experience—how depression shows up in your life—and set practical, achievable goals together.

  • Structured and Compassionate Sessions

Sessions combine exploration (understanding what maintains depression) with hands-on tools you can practise between sessions.

  • Skill Building

You’ll learn strategies for improving sleep and routine, managing energy, challenging extreme thinking, and coping with setbacks.

  • Monitoring Progress

We track small wins and adjust the plan as you change. Therapy is flexible — as you improve, we shift focus to relapse prevention and life balance.

Why Work With Me

  • I bring a warm, non-judgmental approach and practical therapy skills proven to help with depression.

  • I tailor therapy to your pace and preferences — whether you prefer more structured CBT, values-driven ACT, or a supportive space to process.

  • Flexible appointment options (phone/video) to fit your life.

  • I’m experienced in supporting clients through grief, life transitions, perinatal mood concerns, workplace stress, and complex medical or caregiving situations.
